Dana Novales: Loreli Cheesy Love Songwriting Contest Winner

...and the winner of Loreli's first-ever songwriting contest is Dana Novales!! We enlisted the help of Loreli contributor Liz Tung, Live Beijing Music founder Will Griffith, and DJ Jonny Hutong to judge all of the spectacularly cheesy entries until they whittled it down to two. But only one entry did all three judges agree on! Our two songwriting finalists were invited to perform their cheesy love songs at the showcase at Temple Bar and now we are sharing their winning songs with you! This week we are sharing the top winning song, Dana Novales with "Seasons."

About Dana Novales:

My name is Dana Novales, I am an 18 year old inconsistent and slightly bi-polar song-writer who can't make up her mind. I've only ever written a handful of decent-ish songs (mind you, my hands are tiny). But I enjoy the process anyway :)

I'm a one woman band (so..not really a band) and I dedicate my songs to my real life circumstances and situations. The song I'm submitting for this contest is one of which I have dedicated to the person I fell in love with and the story of how it all happened. It's also extra strong cheddar cheesy ;) I hope you like it!

So have you heard? About this one real funny story

During the winter when it didn't snow, it was during my friend's party

Came in this guy.

With fabulous golden hair with a grey suit and a penguin coat tail.

In the winter, when the cold murders the air

with uncomfortable yawns, dirty snow and static everywhere,

who cares about that?

we'll be with each other, struggling getting outta bed together.

I didn't expect, that he would be with me one day

thinkin' to myself I didn't even remember his first name past 12 am

just "chatting" in the stairwell when I thought to myself.... well goddayum!

In the spring, when the warmth returns the air

and plantation pollen come out flying everywhere

who cares about that?

we'll be with each other, suffering allergies together.

And on our first date,

I kept giving him the chances to make all kinds of advances

but then... nothing really happened

i guess he was shy.

But it's okay cuz now he is otherwise ;)

In the summer, when the hot breeze fills up the air

and the hipsters come out flashing all their cameras everywhere

who cares about that?

we'll be with each other, shaking our heads together.

As time went on, we got along quite well together,

we had many a'sleepovers met our parents, friends and others

it was so great,

I never thought in this age i'd meet my soulmate.

In the fall, well, some people call it autumn

but most of all, it's transitional season

so we'll cough, and we'll sneeze but who cares about all that?

we'll be with each other.... spreading our germs together :)

And now we're here,

and we can't believe our eyes

we fell in love can't seem to get each other out of our own minds

it's cheddar cheesy but who cares about all that?

we'll be with each other.... being real weird together.
